The Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge is pleased to announce the addition of the SUN Business Network (SBN) as its newest partner, marking another significant step forward in uniting global initiatives focused on leveraging the private sector to eradicate malnutrition worldwide.

Established in 2012, SBN is the world's leading private sector platform focused on nutrition. Co-convened by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), SBN supports businesses — particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs) — in aligning their operations with national nutrition priorities. With 21 national networks across Africa and Asia and over 1,600 member businesses, SBN plays a crucial role in mobilising the private sector to improve nutrition outcomes globally.

“The Zero Hunger Pledge numbers prove that businesses are eager to advance SDG 2. Many SBN members have already pledged and will continue to invest in promoting nutrition for many communities. Becoming a technical partner in the Pledge is an opportunity to influence the direction of the initiative, through which the private sector drives food and nutrition security worldwide”, said Aimé Garlas Kwizera, Ag. SBN Global Coordinator.

Several companies that have committed to the Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge are also active members of SBN, including AGREA Agricultural Systems in the Philippines, Le Lionceau in Senegal, and Nutricare in Malawi. This overlap underscores the shared commitment of both initiatives to leverage private sector capabilities in addressing malnutrition.

This collaboration began earlier this year. In the lead-up to the 2025 Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris, the Zero Hunger Pledge and the SBN collaborated on the #PrivateSector4Nutrition campaign. This joint initiative featured interviews with various companies participating in both networks, exploring how they integrate nutrition-focused commitments into their core business strategies. The campaign highlighted the pivotal role of the private sector in advancing nutrition goals and showcased good practices for aligning business operations with nutrition objectives.

The addition of the SUN Business Network to the Zero Hunger Pledge represents a strengthening of collaborative efforts to mobilise private sector resources and expertise in the fight against hunger and malnutrition. Together, these initiatives aim to foster sustainable, nutrition-sensitive business practices that contribute to achieving global nutrition targets.

SBN joins a growing list of technical partners supporting the Pledge, including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Shamba Centre for Food & Climate, World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA), the World Food Programme (WFP), Global Citizen and Access To Nutrition Initiative (ATNi).
