WHAT IS THE ZERO HUNGER PRIVATE SECTOR PLEDGE?

The Zero Hunger Private Sector Pledge (the Pledge) is a game-changing solution that emerged from the UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Action Track 1. The Pledge recognises that governments cannot eradicate hunger alone and need more private sector involvement. 

It is an opportunity for companies and investment funds to align their investments with new evidence and commitments by donors, governments, and global institutions to achieve zero hunger by 2030.

The Pledge calls on companies of all sizes and from around the world to join the global movement to end hunger, inviting them to invest, innovate and work with donors and development agencies to change the way food is produced, distributed, and consumed.

The implementing organisations are a coalition of international organisations, namely: the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Grow Africa, Grow Asia, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the Shamba Centre for Food & Climate, the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and the World Food Programme (WFP).
